1 Week Post-Op

Today we are one week post-op. What a difference a week makes! Baby NiNi continues to progress nicely. The rumor is she may be able to go home this weekend :) ! We are weaning the oxygen and she had her pacer wires removed. She took part of a bottle today; the first bottle I've given her in a month! She drank 2/3 of an ounce. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a start! She is on continuous tube feeding now. She'll come home with a tube feed for awhile. She's had fewer withdrawal symptoms today. She's been smiling, kicking, and kissing noises in return if you make them at her. Mostly Mom and I have just enjoyed holding her: this morning, the afternoon, this evening... :) I did manage to put a velcro bow in her hair, but it only stayed in about 6 seconds, enough to take a picture. Her echo showed no pericardial effusion (fluid that collects between the heart and the lining). Yesterday they thought they saw a shadow so we were holding our breath today for the official report. All good news! She'll have one more echo before we go home, but the left ventricle is working like a champ!

Baby met new friends today: the pink elephant from Uncle Joe, that sings "You are my sunshine" and kicks its legs, and a bedtime teddy bear from my boyfriend. She loved them both, touched the soft fabrics, and made kissing sounds at them. Too cute! :-)
