One year ago today, I opened an email and saw my precious NiNi's face for the first time. I had to make a quick decision based on 1 piece of paper and her little picture. I knew this baby was meant to be mine when I saw her. I wanted to kiss those puffy cheeks and snuggle her close. I sent an email to my agency on the spot and said "Yes, I want this baby, as long as she has 2 ventricles." Some TGA babies are born with only 1 ventricle, and they don't usually survive, so I wasn't willing to take a chance on that. NiNi wasn't registered yet for international adoption, so once I said yes, the push for expedited paperwork (hers) began.
Amazing what a difference a year makes, isn't it? :-)
